I am a huge fan of the “The Goldbergs” – a TV show about a family with teens growing up in the 80’s. Maybe it’s because I remember the big hair and angora sweaters so fondly, or maybe I just love how the family loves each other so fiercely. In a recent episode, the father was having a difficult time telling his daughter who was leaving for the summer that he loved her. He said, “I love bacon too, but I don’t have to tell it. It just knows.”
Jump to me thinking about my prayer life. I am good about praying for others. I am also pretty good at praying prayers of thanksgiving. But prayers of praise? Just praising God for all of His goodness and telling Him how much I love Him? That is something I have to work on.
So whether you are having difficulty telling someone in your life that you love them, or you feel challenged how to tell God that you love Him and that He has done great things in your life, here is a little inspiration…
Prayer of Love and Praise
Lord my God, when Your love spilled over into creation, You thought of me. I am…from Love…of Love…for Love. Let my heart, O God, always recognize, cherish, and enjoy Your goodness in all of creation. Direct all that is me toward Your praise. Teach me reverence for every person, all things. Energize me in Your service.
Lord God, may nothing distract me from Your love… Neither health or sickness, wealth nor poverty, honor nor dishonor, long life nor short life.
May I never seek nor choose to be other than You intend or wish. Amen.

Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!”
– Psalm 66:1-3 ESV
I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
– Psalm 145:1-3 NIV
